Stainless Steel Metallic Hose Assemblies

Stainless Steel Corrugated Hose Core is constructed from Grade 321 austenitic Stainless Steel and formed into annular corrugations. The Hose is then overbraided with either single or double overbraid option, depending on operating pressures. The braid is constructed using closley-woven Grade 304 Stainless Steel wire.

All our metallic hose assemblies are available with a wide range of end connections to customer requirements in both mild and stainless steel. All hoses are welded using a two stage process. Firstly, the hose, braid and ferrule are welded together; then the end fitting is secured with a second weld.

Typical metallic hose applications include all chemical industries, iron and steel manufacture, oil and gas industry, paper and broad industry, and all process and liquids handling industry.

TEMPERATURE CORRECTION FACTORS
Where hoses are required to operate at temperatures above 20°C a correction factor must be multiplied by the stated working pressure given for the selected hose. The factors of Stainless Steel flexible hoses are given in the table alongside, and the following example shows how calculations are made for hoses required to operate at elevated temperatures.
EXAMPLE
A 40mm bore Stainless Steel hose is required to convey fluid at working pressure of 17 Bar and a temperature of 300°C. From page 2 the maximum Working Pressure at 20°C for single braid Ref. SB/241 is 34 Bar.
From the chart alongside, Maximum Working Pressure at 300°C = 34 x 0.61 = 20.74 Bar. The hose selected is therefore suitable for the application.
CARBON STEEL FITTINGS
Carbon steel and fittings SHOULD NOT be used below -20°C or above 400°C.

Stainless Steel Annular Convoluted Hose

A close pitch hose with a high degree of flexibility suitable for most applications and normally supplied.

Braid

Single and double layers of Stainless Steel braid prevent elongation of the convoluted hose and increase the working pressures that the hose can accomodate.

PLEASE NOTE: Pressures for 200mm (8ins) and 250mm (10ins) are based on the use of Braided Braid.

TEST PRESSURE

To avoid distortion of the convoluted form of the hose, the maximum test pressures quoted in this literature must not be exceeded. All hoses are subjected to a test of one-and-a-half times the customer's stated working pressure, provided that this does not exceed the stated maximum test pressure. If a working pressure is not stated, the Standard Test procedures will apply.

WORKING PRESSURE

Working pressures are quoted for fluid temperatures at 20°C. Higher fluid temperatures will result in a lower working pressure. These modified working pressures can be calculated using the TEMPERATURE CORRECTION CHART.
